Focus Group Discussions 2014

In March 2014, EFInA completed the first step of the Access to Financial Services in Nigeria 2014 survey. This involved conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) in urban and rural locations with a variety of adults (18 years and above) who were banked, unbanked, and active mobile money users. In addition, one of the groups covered unbanked 15-17 year olds. The main objectives of the Focus Group Discussions were to:

  • Provide insights into how the financial services landscape (in terms of obstacles, challenges, products, usage, channels) has changed since the last survey was conducted in 2012
  • Provide input into the pilot questionnaire for the 2014 survey
  • Explore awareness and impact of recent financial sector policy reforms
